Lama Dondrup

Lama Dondrup

Lama Dondrup is the resident lama taking care of centers in northern Taiwan. He currently resides at the UTBF Center in Taipei, Taiwan.

Dondrup was born in 1971 in Derge, Kham, Tibet, near the Trungram Monastery to diligent Dharma practitioners. He was ordained at Trungram Monastery at the age of nine and learned Tibetan from an old lama who used to be a disciple of the Third Trungram Gyalwa Rinpoche. Dondrup also studied the scriptures and practices of the Six Teachings of Naropa and Mahamudra of the Karma Kagyu lineage.

When Dondrup was twenty-two years old, he started a three-year retreat under the guidance of Aten Rinpoche and retreat teachers and completed the retreat in January 1997. Following the advice of Trungram Gyalwa Rinpoche, beginning February 1998, he resided for a period of three years at the UTBF center in Kaohsiung, covering Southern Taiwan. Since then he has been residing at the center in Taipei, covering Northern Taiwan.

Upon arriving in Taiwan, he quickly adapted to the local life with the help of Gyalwa Rinpoche's disciples. He is now quite capable of communicating in Chinese both verbally and in written form. On top of guiding group practices, he also gives teachings, tutors in practices and rituals, consults on individual practices and leads Dharma activities such as life release.
