Established by His Eminence Trungram Gyalwa Rinpoche
as a nonprofit organization in 1992, UTBF is dedicated to the spiritual
advancement of people worldwide through promotion of the principles of
nonviolence, social justice and mutual understanding. More specifically,
UTBF endeavors to preserve and promote the rich traditions of the Buddhist teachings,
improve educational conditions for the general public and deliver
basic spiritual help, healthcare and emergency relief for those in need.
Evolving from the United Trungram Buddhist Foundation, the
United Trungram Buddhist Fellowship was inspired by His Eminence Trungram Gyalwa Rinpoche
in 2002, and is an association of not-for-profit Buddhist centers, most of
which are nationally registered societies.
The United Trungram Buddhist Fellowship was founded on the belief that the
traditional teachings of the Buddha can bring genuine awareness, happiness
and benefit to our modern day lives. The Fellowship offers Buddhist teachings
and practices preserved under the Trungram tradition through discourses,
meditation and community services. UTBF is committed to creating harmonious
environments and helping all beings develop their full potential of boundless
wisdom and compassion.
Inspired by an attitude of universal responsibility, the Fellowship offers integrated education and
spiritual guidance through which people's minds can be transformed to their highest potential
for the benefit of others.
UTBF is based on the tradition of Milarepa who is considered to be Tibet's
greatest poet saint and one of its most beloved yogis. Milarepa's biography
and spiritual songs are some of the most loved works in Tibetan Buddhist traditions.
