About the Center:
The Taipei UTBF Trungram Dharma Center began to take shape in 1994 when a student of H.E. Trungram Gyalwa Rinpoche renovated the top floor of his house in Taipei as a group practice space in order to accommodate the needs of the growing number of students there.
The center was moved to a larger and more formal venue and registered with the local government as a nonprofit organization in 1997. After the opening of the center, a structured Buddhist curriculum was introduced by Rinpoche to the serious students who study and practice together on a regular basis.
Besides group practice, the center has organized major pujas and public teachings by Gyalwa Rinpoche and Khenchen Rinpoche, including the Eight Great Bodhisattvas pujas (taught over a period of four years) and the 921 Earthquake puja in 1999, to name a few. It has also made arrangements for the visit of His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, organized life release, fire pujas, short meditation retreats, pilgrimage to holy places in Nepal and many other activities.
As guide and advisor of the center's daily operations, Lama Dondrup
resides at the center to lead practices and guide individuals. At present, over thirty students regularly participate in group practice.
