The annual Free Health Camp was started in Nepal in 1997 during the rainy season, when there were still only limited funds and resources available. It has served many people from remote regions that lack necessary health care.
Every year, during the months of June and July when the weather in Nepal is hot and humid, substandard sanitation conditions in some remote areas usually cause the spread of diseases. H.E. Trungram Gyalwa Rinpoche has chosen this period of time annually to give free medical treatment via the Free Health Camp. The mobile clinics of the Camp have reached remote and poor regions, helping almost a thousand people at a time. So far the Free Health Camp has covered areas including Dhadhikot, Sankhu and Lamatar.

The Free Health Camp invites doctors and nurses from the best local hospitals to give professional diagnosis and treatment to the villagers. Selected students from the Trungram International Academy and monks and nuns from the Sankhu Monastery form the volunteer teams. They help with paperwork, maintain orders and increase work efficiency.
The Camp uses the best local medicine available, plus a small amount of medicine from Taiwan. Ordinary diseases are handled by Camp staff, while assistance is given for transfer to major hospitals in the case of people who need special diagnosis and treatment.
